Manchester City came from behind in the second half to pull off an impressive 2-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain and win Group A with a game to spare.
Kylian Mbappe had given the visitors the lead five minutes into the second half after Lionel Messi’s deflected pass kindly fell into his path towards the back post. The French superstar showed good composure in tucking the ball through the legs of Ederson.
Manchester City carried the greater threat throughout the majority of the game and got their just due just after the hour when an in-form Raheem Sterling poked home from close range after Gabriel Jesus flicked on Kyle Walker’s cross.
Jesus scored the winner with quarter-of-an-hour to go moments after Neymar fired wide in a one-on-one opportunity. The Brazilian’s goal for City came from six yards out following an unselfish lay-off from Bernardo Silva following a nice move.
Manchester City have confirmed they will finish top of the group with 12 points from their five games, whilst RB Leipzig’s 5-0 win away to Club Bruges means both teams that met at the Etihad on Wednesday night have progressed into the Second Round.
